About

Lois comes to professional retriever training with an ongoing passion for working with animals. It is a passion she has had since childhood, and that ultimately led her to choose Animal Husbandry as her profession. She started her journey by attending Essex Agricultural & Technical Institute where in 1979 she received an A. D. in Small Animal Science. After transferring to the University of Vermont, in 1982 she obtained a B.S. in Large Animal Science. She then furthered her education by receiving a Teaching Certificate from the University of Massachusetts in 1983. It was at this point that she took a position at Essex Agricultural & Technical Institute where she taught Vocational Agriculture and managed the school’s dairy herd.
In September of 1990 her life was forever changed after she made the purchase of her first Labrador Retriever… Saltmarsh Black Angus. Gus, as he was known, was the exceptional dog that led Lois on the path to becoming a professional trainer. Because of his remarkable talent, she was determined to find an accomplished professional through which she could learn the art and science of training retrievers. Needless to say, she found the trainer and, for the next three years, she apprenticed with this professional to educate herself. This became her new professional pursuit, and eighteen years later she is still as passionate as ever about training retrievers. In this time span, she has titled numerous Master, Senior, and Junior level dogs as well as competing in Field Trials. So it is with a dedicated work ethic, and an extensive knowledge and gift of working with animals, that she would like to assist you in training your retriever.
